I personally love Gary Fishers from the late 90's early 2000's because they're extremely well built XC bikes. If you do a lot of mixed road/off road than this bike should serve you well. It should also handle quite well in sandy and loose conditions compared to a lot of newer bikes. I'd say you made a good choice!
