Having looked at a road (SRAM Rival) and mtb (Deore XT) I have lying aroung, cage shape wise, they are almost identical, the XT one is a triple, and is more beefy than the Rival which is a double, if fitting to a double crankset, both would do the same job. as the OP has a triple, he is limited to a small number of road FD's which are produced as triple compatiable, and a better option would as previously suggested to go with an mtb FD
