after i built up my powertap, i'd check the tension on it every week and then every two weeks. No big changes after the first 300 or so miles, but it developed play around 400-500. Retension, and it was good until last week.

I don't know if your coworker de-stressed the wheels, but a proper de-stressing may take 5-6 rounds (Sheldon Brown has a very informative article on this).

If you work at a bikeshop, get the wheel building tools at employee pricing. It'll be worth your trouble.

Also, if you have two spokes break, i may even request a re-lacing.
