Have a shop do it? Why that's crazy! Half of the fun (maybe more than half) of a project like this is figureing everything out, accumulating the parts and doing it yourself. Why would you want to pay somebody else to have that fun insted of you?
You can do this. Expect it to take some time and expect to make a few miscues along the way. That's all part of the fun too. Acquire parts whenever and whereever you can and just do it.
