Okay I kind of answered my own thread because I realized that the tire that was on the 622 x 17 wheel was already a 26 x 1.95 tire. So I know the 1.5 is an acceptable width for the 622 x 17 inch wheel. I have inflated the tire and it fits well so unless someone has some kind of "HOLY CRAP!" issue with this I will go with it for the next couple of months until I get my new bike.
