Campagnolo Ergopower Shifter Maintenance

I have a pair of 1s generation Record Ergos and I'm ready to install them on a bike with Chorus derailleurs and a 7sp freewheel. I've inspected the Ergos and they look fine, although, the teeth on the wheel actuated by the thumb lever look pretty worn. I wonder if the life could be prolonged with a jeweler's file if and when this becomes a problem?

There's a lot of dust/grime in there. Should I flush these with a degreaser or perform any other maintenance before installing them?
