I met Pino in '78 at an Olympic Development Race the Old Detroit Velodrome, we had just seen one of his heat treated frames at our shop in Chicago. The handlebars had struck the top tube. Since it was heat treated by Pino's "new and revolutionary process" it shattered instead of denting. When I asked him about it he called me a liar and claimed none of his frames had failed in that manner. Dave Grylls came over and called me an a$$hole. I found out later there were several examples that had the same failure. LOL, Pino was a character.
