yah that thought crossed my mind... how long are these base rides that you need energy drink? and what kind of pace, that a banana won't work?
anyway, sorry for the tangent. I don't always use bulk maltodextrin, but when I do, here's my recipe:
½ teaspoon (2.5 g) baking soda
½ teaspoon (2.5 g) table salt
¼ teaspoon (1.25 g) salt substitute (potassium-based), such as Lite Salt or Morton Salt Substitute
2 tablespoons (30 g) sugar, or, maltodextrin based on hours / calories needed. I also use Orange Juice for flavor.
Mix in a big bottle.
