I've been lurking these threads for a while after having not posted in a long time. I was dead set on buying a regular track bike and riding at the velodrome when I'm one to chicago next year, but lately I've been really enjoying just riding for fun. Have ridden a friends Vilano frame with random other bits and pieces on it, and really enjoyed it. The Pake's and Soma's look like quality frames for a great price. I will no doubt be on a budget as I am now, my only concern is, how is the build quality of these bikes? I want steel as it's heavier, because I'm a heavier guy (230ish) and I want to do my own build. Can anyone chime in on that particular aspect of these brands? The other route I'm considering is a Globe Roll, but these Pake and Soma frames are much sexier.
