But my question.... I am not sure what bike to take. My road bike or my commuter bike.

My road bike: I have ridden it a lot. First bike I bought and know the ins and outs of it. I love it.

My commuter: Is a mtn bike modified into a commuter. Have only ridden about 5 miles on it. It is heaviet duty then the road bike.

Now... my thinking:

I dont want to break a spoke with my road bike in NYC. I am a heavy guy.
A lot of stopping on this ride.
My mtn bike might be able ot take the bumps and cracks better.
Since it is not a fast ride, I was thinking maybe mtn bike but the one thing that concerns me is that it is a new bike and I havent ridden it much. Just turned it into a commuter.

Thoughts?
tell me more about the ride:
what time?
how many miles?
what route are you taking?
what type of pace will you guys be going?

p.s. as pennstater said, keep a lookout for more than just potholes.
