I have a Trek Madone SL 5.9 and I would never transport a nice bike like that on a Kingpin type rack because the possibility for a scratch is great. That's why I prefer the Saris Cycle-On because it attaches to your rear hitch but the frame never touches the rack and you don't have to take the wheels off either. Check it out on the Saris website. Believe me, if you have a nice bike and you don't want to scratch your frame (especially carbon) then look into the cycle-on. Thule also has something similar. They are a little more expensive but it's worth it if you want to keep your bike looking pristine.
