The post-2001 Ergo levers all have the number of speeds printed on the front of the lever body, i.e. "9 SPEED", "10 SPEED" etc.

Look at Shift Mate's website for application tables if needed.
I've sometimes found the pre-2001 rear derailers to be scarce and/or extraspensive.
