I've been going through that journal at a few pages a day. It's really great. The pictures are fantastic.

One thing that keeps going through my mind is how often I hear a certain bike or piece of equipment dismissed because it has non-standard, not easily replaceable parts. I have to ask myself what part, if any, of this guy's kit is standard? Just goes to show that with the right preparation and the right attitude, you can ride whatever you want.

On the other hand, he seems to take for granted that he's going to take fairly regular headers off of his bike. That would send me running back to my new-fangled, safety bicycle pretty quickly.
