The Trek 720 is a hybrid from the 1990's converted to drop bar/bar end shifters. When new it sold for around $370. While it would probably do the job you can probably do better. I am selling a "brand new" (just took it out of the original box last year, and have only ridden it a couple of times) 1993, Trek 820, large frame, for $250. River City will set you up right.
Do you mean i could do better with regards to the bicycle or the price? I understand the price markup comment and after doing some research think that 300 would be a fair price. do you agree? bargening is not really my thing?
