"Weight" and "Effectiveness" are pretty much mutually exclusive. So pick one. :-)

The lightest pumps don't push enough air volume to pump up the relatively large tires on your Trek without many, many, many pumps. The most "effective" pumps, which I would define as "Don't make you feel like your arms are about to fall off when you're done", weigh more.

Some people compromise by carrying a light pump, along with some C02 carts. But of course that just adds more weight...
