Back in about 1990, give or take a few years, my bike club had a picture taken on the steps of the State Capitol building, as a counterpoint to the one taken 100 years prior. In the new one were quite a few Safety Bikes (what we consider 'standard' road bikes,) and a few recumbents. In the 1800s picture, there were quite a few Ordinaries (penny farthings) and a few new-fangled Safety Bikes. It's amazing how things change.
