Father-in-law passed today

My father-in-law passed away today. He was a full professor at Bloomsburg University in PA for over 30 years. He's a large part of the reason I went to graduate school. When I started dating my wife, he asked that I read his dissertation. I did and was very impressed. He said to me, “You marry my daughter, you damn well better be the best you can be, and you’re easily capable of doing this kind of work.” My wife has never known about this conversation. I think I probably ought to tell her. Whenever he talked about my “cycling addiction” (his words, not mine), he would say, “As long as you take care of your family, this isn’t a bad vice to have.”
