Cut a tire today

About 15 miles into my commute I heard the sickening pop and hiss of a rapidly deflating tire. Pretty bad gash, about an inch long. Thanks to advice I found on this forum, I bought some Park tire boots a couple of months ago. Easy to install. I kept the tire pressure low just in case.

I made it to work, but not too keen on using it for the 19 mile ride home. I'll try to pick up a new tire at lunch, but I doubt I'm going to find my preferred Pasela in 27x1-1/4 locally. Downside of commuting on a C&V bike.

If you don't already carry them, get yourself some tire boots. Cheap insurance - mine saved me from a four mile walk, or having to call the office for a rescue.
