Altitude means height above sea level as in minimum and maxiumum

Elevation means you went up a total of 35 feet and descended a total,of 72 feet

The reason you get both is try climbing 1000 feet when starting at sea level, then go to 8000 feet and try climbing 1000 feet....two totally different things

Of strava says negative grade you are going down...if its negative over the entire ride ou lost more than you gained.

And I would give up on the comparisons...they only lead to frustration, which in my case was leading to a lessened desire to train.

Just go ride. Work on increasing your distance most of the week, and throw in some speedy intervals one day a week, and do that for a month....youll be surprised how much better you will be.
