Which model of Santana do you have and how old is it.
Mine is a 2007 Team Scandium and the post DO unscrew.
Before I did it I called Santana and asked before I put a wrench on it.
Been post free for Five years now.

That's helpful. I have seen the flat spots on other bike brands but my Santana does not have them so I thought they were welded on.
