Make sure that you buy die-drawn stainless wires and lined housings, The drawn wires are smoother so will work better and wear the housing less. Like many items there is the law of diminishing returns. Once you get past the cheapest "no-name" components the performance differences are small; the very highest priced stuff is more for "bling" than true performance inprovement. Careful installation, correct routing and preparing the ends properly, installing proper ferrules and making sure everything is seated properly makes more difference than spending gobs of money. On the other hand poor installation can make the performance of even the finest components poor and frustrating.
