Is it really that much to trade the fork for a locking one? If it is, so be it. I'd be perfectly happy with the Revel it's just that I was trying to get this "better" bike for a steal.
It is that much, yes. First you need to buy a new fork on the after market. Then there is labor to install it. No real market for the old fork either, not at that level. Your shop's advice is sound.
