Revel has nicer components...X5, 9-speed, and BB5s. Looks like the Talon may have a nicer frame though. Probably not enough to notice though. Talon also has more travel, but chances are the forks are so cheap that you won't tell the difference. I'd go Revel.

Frame is important too because I like to consider which bike would make more sense to upgrade. The Talon's frame is slightly higher quality and lighter according to the lbs tech. Like you said, both forks are probably low quality so which bike would be more worthwhile to upgrade is important.
