Just a side note on that. We camped under a bridge in Texas that happened to be used as a turn around point for at least 4 different law enforcement types (State, Park Service, Wildlife management, and County). There was and endless stream of them all night long. The only one that paid any attention to us waved.

The mosquitoes in Louisiana practically carried us off and we rode through there the second week in March. Make sure you have repellent when you get there.
