I try to clean my road frames when they get visibly dirty. Just a wipe down with diluted Simple Grean. I clean/lube the drivetrain every 200 miles or so. I will do a more thorough cleaning/breakdown over the winter.
The MTB, however, gets cleaned after every ride for obvious reasons.
