I was always raised with the knowledge that if they are following behind you or coming directly at you (from behind) then keep riding, but if they (as my dad would say) have a bead on you and are on an intercept course, where they'll run into you in 10 feet or whatever, that's when you stop. Yes, that does make sense. I was surprised by them and probably should have just kept up my pace. I've been past that same spot several times and haven't seen them again. Maybe the traffic took care of that problem
