In my experience: NO, not strong enough (but YRMV).
There is also a cast-metal 4-pin Mavic tool with a 5-inch handle that's sold by Nashbar for modern Mavic hubs. It will
probably break, too.
The all-steel 670 with 6 pins is
the tool to use, if you can find one.
