i just couldn't do it.
the storm has passed, leaving chicago without even a dusting of snow on the ground (all hype once again), but the marine forecast was still calling for 40 knot winds this morning along the lakefront, gusting to 50 knots (55 mph!), straight out of the NW (my 11 o'clock for the ride in). i can do the rain, the snow, the sleet, the ice, the what-have you, hell i can even appreciate and enjoy that stuff, but egregiously strong headwinds like that just sap all of my enthusiasm, to say nothing of making me really, really late for work. punctuality can be hard to maintain when you're struggling to chug along at 5 mph (i've got a ~15 mile one-way commute).
so, Metra commuter rail to the rescue for the chicken's way out....... I am not a man....... < head held properly in shame >.......
on the bright side, winds are forecast to stay steady and strong out of the NW, so it could be a really fast and fun ride home tonight!
