I hate to say this, but either you're mechanically declined, and/or have a low threshold of frustration. There'e nothing inherrently difficult about KS shoes, except that don't fit 6mm slots.

I'm not sure about the model Bianchigirl suggested, but these may be too tall for some older bakes that cannot open far enough to accommodate them, especially combined with wider rims.
