I don't know how you unicyclists do it. I have enough trouble balancing two wheels (it took me to age 12 to learn). I did see a mother-daughter unicyclist team in the most recent Neptune Avenue 4th of July Parade, which is always a great neighborhood event in funky Leucadia.
Have you hear about the electric unicycle which balances fore-aft the same way the Segway does?
