weirdo 80's japanese bike specs

I have a Univega super ten I'm overhauling. I'm not a pro mechanic so I haven't seen it all, but here's what I've run across so far: 70mm English threaded BB shell, 96mm front fork spacing, and 25.2 mm seatpost diameter. Thought I was going back to a place where my world made sense after finishing phase one of project Gitane TdF, but noooo! WTF? Who do I complain to about this, I mean, it's really all too much.

Plus when I dissembled the BB, there were 6 hornet carcusses that came out with the ball bearings. But I'm not blaming the Japanese for that.

That's my little rant for the day.

Any suggestions for the BB? Just use a UN53 with the 73mm spec?
