Yeah, that was something.
+1 to braking for slow spots though. I've gone on SST rides with slow friends and just ridden my rear brake (which is otherwise rarely used) for most of the ride. It's not that much wear really either, since I'm only raising my power by 40W or so, which is all the brake drag needs to generate. So it's like a desk lamp.
