I could look at this thread all day. Great bikes, everyone!
I seem to be going the opposite direction of most others... from fatter 26" tires and a heavy MTB frame to 700X35 Schwalbe Marathon Winter tires on a lighter Alu frame. Less able to handle everything, but better for my street commute 95% of the time. I've been enjoying this latest Winter Bike alot. 2004 Devinci Oslo. Pedals flat one side, cleated the other. I hate snow buildup under normal fenders, so I have improvised a little. I thought the panniers might collect lots of slush/ice/snow, but so far so good; very little has stuck to them so far. Best (coldest) day today so far this winter where I live in London, Ontario, Canada at -18C (-0.4 F). It was a great commute, got a little too hot actually.
I've written lots about winter riding and other Mutant Winter bikes on my blog,
