I have to challenge your assertion that "they have everything going for them" because they clearly have a deficit in judgement.
It's a 2002....figure they are young, healthy and still young enough to have a chance to NOT screw up the rest of their lives. They might pay the price for this, but maybe nobody ever told them they could do better before....
