I bought a pair of those or some very similar ones a few months ago for $10 from a CL ad. Didn't really need them at the time, but figured I would someday. I use standard SPD's and run the single sided style on my road bikes. Kicking them over to clip in is really not difficult. Your feet learn the movement after a while.
