I've been joined in Spain by my friend the coach, a few other adults and eighteen teenage racers for the biannual training camp. Some of the kids are veterans of two or three of these occasions, and as they get older the physical progress they are making is amazing. On Thursday last week I was leading out a small bunch on a very fast section of road. As we hit a slight rise after a fractionally downhill section I wasn't surprised to see the coach jump past me - he's an old track sprinter of some quality. I was surprised, though, to find a fourteen year-old girl absolutely glued to his wheel. As they went by I glanced at my Garmin. I was doing 35 mph. Admittedly, the kid is rated about number three in the UK for her age, but still...
