protecting the rear spokes
I bought my BD used. It does not have a disk that protects the spokes from catching chain on an overshift at the rear axle. That is partly why I had that catastrophic recently.
Does the BD normally come with a protective disk? Am I missing something?
My LBS said that I had to lose first gear to put on a "shield". I'm not sure I quite believe that.
I'm hoping that if Surly bikes come with this disk, that I can order one known to fit. I did not offhand catch sight of one when cruising their website a few minutes ago. But, that could be photography and my sorry eyesight.
