The other guy needs to schooled for his actions towards the young lady and towards you. He was just trying to "impress" the young lady thinking that making you look bad he was being some type of slick and sophisticated strong man. You showed a lot more patience towards him than I would have, but that is for the best. She was upset enough as it was and you were the gentleman in this case, doing the correct and right thing for her. It was nice of you to ride the remaining way with her after she asked for your escort, that was a classy thing to do. I really hope she takes away a positive memory of your actions in that scene with the jerk. His type are what can give bicycling a bad name and image. If he acted that badly towards you, he has deeper problems than just his machismo complex.

As Charles said, "you did the right thing all the way around", good for you NOS, but it doesn't surprise me at all that you were the gentleman.
