Yes, Amgen is definitely doing it in the 'wrong' direction. This is one of the few roads where I have a preferred direction, but I certainly like it better when I get to dodge the potholes at only a few mph on the ascent while enjoying the cool shade of the trees along the winding road and then get the nice smooth road surface and open sightlines on the fast descent heading south.
