I try to look as close to homeless as possible when I ride the beater bike to the beach park (with many homeless campers) for lunch time swims. That way, if my clothes get stolen, it is no real lose for me and a very slight improvement for the homeless guy. The bicycle may be my "beater" but it is still well locked.
