FYI, i finally got a seat and i ended up going with the Britax linked a few posts up.
http://www.amazon.com/Britax-USA-K05.../dp/B006FS3BFM

We own their car child seats and know they make a top notch product so I figured I'd give it a shot. It works PERFECTLY!
Plenty of clearance over the rack and the only attachment is to the seat tube. Also, you can get an extra bracket to install on another bike and the seat can transfer over in about 5 seconds.
The seat also has some flex to it so going over bumps is not so jarring to the kiddo.

Some other nice things...
1) Seat back reclines a bit
2) Ankle straps hold their feet in. And you only adjust once. After that they snap on and off for easy entry/exit.
3) Shoulder straps are secure and is an easy one-button on/off.
4) Build very rugged but not too heavy.
5) Was able to work with both my current rack (several inches of clearance) and my Brooks Champion Special which is basically a sprung B.17. The springs are kinda big.

Anyway, my daughter loved... i love it... and I have a pletscher double kickstand on the way to replace my single kickstand.
Thanks for all the suggestions!
