I'm worried about the leather cracking from water and salt damage. The reason I bought the Gortex ones is that they were $40 cheaper than the ones without Gortex. I've always been against Gortex in shoes as the Gortex cannont be cleaned if it gets really dirty. Gortex in the 1980's needed to be relativly clean to breath. Perhaps Gortex has improved since the old days.
