I meant to write about my commute home yesterday, but forgot after I started working on some bike maintenance when I got home. Yesterday was my first time trying a bicycle commute. My wife and I drive to work together because we work across the street from each other. So I have the luxury of throwing the bike on the rack and riding home while she drives the car home. I'm happy to say the 16+ mile route I picked out worked perfectly thanks to suggestions from a few guys at my LBS and contributions others have made to commuting threads on this site. It is 4 miles more than if I rode on main roads, but boy did it make for a nice ride home!
I'm gonna put a set of slick tires on my bike and do a little more maintenance tonight and try the commute home again a few more times and then try the commute into work by bike a few times before I give the to and from commute in the same day.
