It's not a very big hill. If you have done a reasonable amount of training and hill climbing, you'll wonder what all the fuss was about. Your biggest issue will be dodging those who have not done enough training and decide to stop and dismount halfway up.

FYI, there are other hills besides "The Hill"--my first year, I was expecting flat, and was surprised by the rollers and bridge climbs in the second half. They're shorter than "The Hill", but there are a couple short-but-punchy climbs. If you know they're there, it's not a big deal, but I was slightly peeved when they were unexpected.
