It has more to do with a select few posters with very set opinions who troll from helmet thread to helmet thread arguing with and berating anyone who disagrees with their viewpoint, and point in fact all helmet threads are merged into a giant one over in A&S.
I've noticed this with some "take the lane" comments. One side says never do it, and insists that anyone who disagrees advocates doing it always, even on 50mph plus roads, or they promote the opposite extreme.
