Nice ride...you'll get there. I'm about to go through the same agony. Been over 25yrs since I was riding regularly, also 6'5" and 270 here. Waiting on my Surly Ogre build to be finished off and hoping the frame will fit reasonably well.
A bit over a year ago I was in a doctor's appointment and she just kept sliding the scale over and over and over. I was just knocking on 300 and decided I had to do something. I went heavily carb restricted for a year and was down 55 or so, currently I'm down 35sh. I want to drop another 40-50 with the added activity from cycling with luck.
