our fair city saw fit some time in the past to turn the downtown into a 4 way highway with the businesses in the median. There is great resistance to change that crazy arrangement, even though it almost surely would be a boon to the downtown businesses. The lights are crazy long to cross the roads, they pretty much expect you to jaywalk
