My tips would be:
1. Bring lots of water. There is no water between the base of GMR and Mt. Baldy Village. I drink a lot of water when climbing, so I carry a bunch when I do that ride.
2. If you're going to descend Mt. Baldy Road; make sure you're experienced at high-speed descents. The pavement isn't too good, and there are two high speed tunnels where you can't see the road surface. I've descended worse; but I'll always refuse to take descending novices down it.
