I did it this year and instantly began kicking myself that I hadn't done it sooner. My rides are faster and the hills are smaller on the road bike :-) The thing that worried me was comfort, I was amazed that the road bike was more comfortable than my hybrids - partially due to additional hand positions. Having said that, my road bike has a sloped top tube and a triple crank.
