The Expedition has undergone some big changes since the first use of the name in the 1980s. It was a touring bike turned hybrid. Now, it is more modern and has taken on a more mountain-bike-like frame geometry. The model you have is more of a comfort bike. Components are not junk, but, they are low-end. The frame on that generation is not bad, but, it is a bit heavier than I would personally like. It is aluminum with steel stays and a steel fork. They add weight, but, they improve rider comfort. That's the trade-off. If you plan to keep the bike, I'd upgrade components. That would lighten the weight a bit and increase the longevity.
